hey there guys i think this belongs in the off topic.. but there are many flamers there
and this has got to do with science so iam osting here

iit is the worlds second best enginnering college
it has the lowest intake of students
hardly 2% that is like from 4 hundred thousand people only 8 thousand r selected

here is the question paper
the guy who gets 200 marks out of 480 marks in this paper gets last rank n the guy who gets 400 above marks gets below 100 rank
those who secure a rank will be called for interview(just casual talk nothing personnel) and asked to select a branch ..

here is the question paper try to solve it and post how many marks can u get
not that this paper is for 17~ 18 year olds...
so it aint a big thing if u get 400 above marks
paper 1
paper 2

That's pretty brutal for a 17 year old. Just skimming, it seems pretty doable, though. If I had prepped for it since 8th grade (which I understand is common practice in India), I think that I would be fine.

By the way, I know that English is your second language, but I also know that your English is definitely better than that. At least put some effort into making your post readable. For instance, I'm pretty sure that you know how "you" and "are" are spelled. Also, you're probably aware "ain't" is not a word. It would be kind of you to include some punctuation and capitalization as well. Right now, I can't tell where a sentence begins and ends.

They use punctuation in India, so you're just being lazy. It's pretty inconsiderate to actually expect anyone to spend time on your post when you aren't willing to make yours readable.

WTF, I can't even answer half that shit, and I've taken Gen Chem I/II, Orgo I/II, Physics I/II, and some advanced Physics classes. Fuck that shit, good luck.

well 180 marks is the minimum pass marks ...
so thats roughly around 40%

you should probably see JEE papers of 2005 or 2004(mains not screening)

yup that guy offers a two year long program to students who dont need any sort of coaching........
but you should see those students ... they are so studious and hardworking .. they always get a "a+++++" in there schools (nearly 98% to 100%)

he doesnt teach much in his classes. but that guy is a hitler.
Once there was a student who was sick and was sleeping in his class, he woke him up and spitted in his face and asked him to leave his institute !!

if he finds any guy is wearing fancy shoes or watches, he would kill them!!
even if the students are late by 1 min he will not allow them in.
if a student doesnt attend his college continously for two days . he will simply kick them out

And home work OMG.. he gives so much home work . if any body doesnt do it he will make them stand in hot sun for 6 hours(his classes are 6 hours long).
almost all of his students make it to a iit

my bad its below 100 rank.
the guy who gets 400 marks gets a below 100 rank,
and only those who get below 100 rank can get computer engg branch, below 500 ranks and you might get electricals
and those who make it to the last ranks gets only civil engg

I'd fail hardcore on that. I've had chemistry in high school and in college, physics too, but have forgotten it all since I have not used it since.

iit kgp - OE & NA dept. did MS in CS now though :).

yeah, i am of the opinion (everybody has got one :)) that the earlier papers where you have to solve problems (i.e., non-objective) is more difficult - as it takes out the luck factor completely.

and yes we had screening and mains.

iit grads are damn smart. my parents know 10-15 of them in the US, and they are all multi-millionaires.
