Any Star Wars fans looking forward to this as much as I am? Screenshots look sweet, and if the gameplay is as good as the first its a definite winner!

Dark Forces III ?? (is there one in development?)

I just re-installed the original Jedi Knight since I never finished it & there arent many current pc games I'm interested in so I decided to go back & finish this along with Unreal/ Nali Pali.
Jedi KnightII does look good, theres another one to put on my ever growing "whens it gonna get released!" list.

I wish Red Faction would get released for the pc, I'm really struggling with the controls on my PS2.
Nothing beats a keyboard & mouse!

Jedi Knight II is Dark Forces III

the full name of Jedi Knight one was "Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II"

so actually the in development "Jedi Outkast: Jedi Knight II" is really "Jedi Outkast: Jedi Knight II: Dark Forces III"

I've never played the "first" Jedi Knight, but the new one does look pretty sweet. I've seen the original for sale pretty cheap lately is it still a pretty decent game?

Its awfully old, don't be expecting any great graphics (1024x768x16 is the highest it will go), but the gameplay is solid and the online is awesome (lightsabers and the force!). I can't run it in win2k, it was working fine the other day, now it tells me i need to reinstall direct x. Well I did and it still won't run, so I gave up.

I can overlook graphics to some extent if the gameplay is good enough and 4x FSAA couldn't hurt. What the hell though, it's only like ten bucks so perhaps I'll pick it up.

Guess I got a little confused with the Jedi Knight II , Dark Forces III thing.

As for the 1st Jedi Knight, I'd say its still a pretty good game from a gameplay standpoint (force powers are cool), but as was already said, the graphics wont be pushing your geforce/raedon to its limits. :)

I just reinstalled it a couple days ago, and it looks pretty good (ya know, considering its age) with 2xFSAA at 1024x768 :) I could run 4xFSAA on it but my system would get a little stutter, I guess I really should get a CPU upgrade...lol :) The games alot of fun, cant wait for them to release JK:II...hope the gameplays as good but with alot better graphics!

I heard the announcement of this game but didn't see any screenshots. Are there any?

Dankeschon!

Can't really tell that much from the screen shots. Environments seem a little dry at this time. Let's hope that what happened to Obi-Won doesn't happen to this game.

How do you linktify things? Do you have to be an extra special cool guy or something? And yeah, I too don't think the screens look all that great, but perhaps if we saw them in motion our impressions would change?

At the top of the reply box there is a list of icons that make linking easy

click on the one that reads 'http'

A box will then appear, copy and paste the url (e.g www.anandtech.com) and press enter

Another box will appear, in this box enter the name u want it to be called {e.g a funky site) and press enter

hey presto

a funky site

It's quake 3 engine, and by the time it's out, it's likely that most of us will have geforce 3+, so expect monster frame rates and FSAA on those images.

I tried Jedi Knight out recently, and I just couldn't get into it. It starts slow and I guess without the jedi powers, it just doesn't compete with newer games, at least in the beginning. Let a lone the sub quake 2 graphics.

Once you get the powers, and the lightsaber, it rocks. I played the whole game through with only the lightsaber (and a very occassional use of a gun when I absolutely had to). It is so much fun.

Regarding Jedi Knight, the graphics may not be the greatest but gameplay is awesome. Plus, the environments I think really add to the game. If your looking for a non-stop no-brainer shooter, then you're looking at the wrong game.

The first game contained what I figure is one of the best FPS game levels of all time - the rapidly changing gravity level where you're trying to escape the ship before it crashes on a planet. Too sweet. :)

Can't wait. Have you guys seen the spy-cam footage of the game at E3? The FPS rate seems to be pretty low but hey, we're all power users, we can deal. ;)

OMG! That footage is sweet! I'm sure frame rates will improve. Could be the footage too.

I agree with many others, the original JK was one of the best single player games of all time.
