JEDEC Finalized DDR-4 spec coming to us in 2015

I wonder if this means that for DDR3, 8GB will be the max density of 1 stick at the consumer level, similar to how 4GB is the max stick density for DDR2.

Most all these predictions talk about the year ddr4 will have majority market presence.
I fully expect to see ddr4 on the shelves next year even if only 10% of people or less use it. Or if only intel has a platform with AMD lagging behind. With ddr3 saturating the world and so cheap, the memory makers want this release as soon as possible to increase margins. Also APUs will love this.

DDR4 has been shipping since early this year. Samsung, iirc, made a bunch of sticks to a preliminary spec for some big mainframe stuff.

I mean when will it be out for consumer or microcenter or Fry's. you walk in and buy a 64GB kit. But wait it will be soo expensive since its new tech. Ill pass DDR 3 is fine.

Ill get 64GB DDR-3 .

Motherboard makers have to comply, I don't know of any mobo that says DDR-4 support and I doubt Haswell will have DDR 4 support. Maybe in 2 generations 2014 or 2015 you will see all new mobos have DDR 4. gl
