everyone on facebook is doing this, i think it's nice

Honestly, I think it's trite and lazy. I know the thought is in a good spot, but it's just utterly pointless. I also don't know what it means because it means nothing.

That seems more complicated tbh... I ended up just adding the keyboard profile, that they actually did easier than in windows. No need to insert CD or download anything. :p

You build special characters based on what they look like. Could hardly be easier. I use capslock as my assigned key cause it's otherwise worthless...

capslock + | + c = ¢
capslock + / + o = ø
capslock + ' + e = é
capslock + L + - = £
...

I have to agree. I am getting really tired of empty gestures.

Lots of stuff we do are "empty gestures" similar to this.

Expressing sorrow or sympathy at someone elses loss isn't going make everything better but we all do it (unless we're a sociopath).

I see this similar to bringing a flag at half staff. It's not a lot of work to do, but it's a symbol of respect.

Now if we really want to show some respect we should all speak French for the next couple days. :D
