I've narrowed it down to these two sets. I'm very limited in my choices, b/c my Trooper has a max mounting depth of 2" (two inches) in the front doors. Spacer rings aren't an option b/c the factory grill butts up right against the frame of the woof. :( The specs are 99% identical. Same freq response, same power handling. Links are below.

Infinity 605cs

JBL GTO605c

I've heard the Infinity's (at Circuit City) I liked the sound. I haven't heard these JBL's but I've heard JBL separates before and liked them as well.

go with the infinity ref 605s. I have them in my car and i love the sound. Very laid back and natural. I suggest you buy a nice 2 channel amp for them as well.

Thanks, Sudheer Anne. I appreciate the testimonial. As far as power goes, I don't have any worries there. My front door receive a healthy 130 watts RMS each, from 70Hz and up. Snappy midbass up the wazoo! :)

I know that's more the the RMS rating for the speakers, but I keep the gains way down. Besides, unless you're talking massive over-watting, it's clipping/distortion that kills speakers, not overpowering.

The GT's sound good and have better midbass but the Infinity's are by far better overall in my honest opinion. I have 605cs up front and 652i's in the back and it's sweet :)

Btw, if you have American Express Blue get that baby for much less than you think ;)

1) Go through MSN's current promotion site (e.g. $20 back for every $100 spent)
2) Buy it at Crutchfield, with shipping you go beyond $200 for the set
3) Call up American Express Blue and pricematch with Smilephotovideo.com who has it for $119

All in all:

$199 - $40 (from Microsoft) - $80 (from Amex) = $79

:)

Thank me later after you install it.

I picked up some Polk Audio 2560 components from eBay for around $100 shipped. A lot of people decided between Polks and Infinity's because they are in the same price range with the same specs. Just thought I'd throw another speaker in the mix.
