Don't cops have anything better to do? Anybody know the fine for a jaywalking ticket in santa clara county, ca?

They don't regularly. He had to look up the vehicle code and I asked him "don't give out jaywalking tickets much huh?" And he said.. "No, I do." The cop couldn't have been more than 25 years old.

Uh, it should be on your ticket.
He said I'll get something in the mail and he didn't know how much it was going to be.

Maybe you'd be happier if you got plowed by a bus?

IIRC, las vegas carries VERY steep fines for jaywalking. Then again, a decent amount of people get plowed by buses every year.

Apparently they dont have anything better to do than looking for people breaking laws. Sorry about your luck.

You honestly expect someone to remember every code? Do you realize how many their are? Sounds like you were being an ass anyways.

I've been doing it every day for the past 3 months. The parking lot at work is under construction so there's no where to park. About 100+ people do it everyday, twice.

Drivers probably complained to the police officers because a bunch of pedestrains were nearly causing accidents.

Dont they just give you warnings for jaywalking or are thsoe just the nice cops?
I was hoping for one. Tried to talk with him until he pulled out his ticket book and started writing :|

yea jay walking tickets should be handed out at discretion, not if you are just crossing a street that obviously poses no threat to you at the time of your crossing.

What was his defense? Just show up in court?
