And cooling... how do you think the tank kept it cool? I'm sure he'll have no problem with an open-hood, air-cooled setup.

they were good engines, and people have put them in cars before (no link, but I've read of a guy that shoehorned a merlin into a car, don't remember what make, anddrove it for a while until it finally caught fire in germany).

But they are aircraft engines, designed to operate at a more or less constant speed with steady high speed airflow through the radiators at all time. They would not do well in an automotive application.

But air cooled? They're going to be able to run this thing 5 minutes at a time.

Theres no hood.

Anyone who has ever been to the Woodward Dream Cruise will surely tell you that there isn't a whole lot of movement going on. Traffic snarls for 3 days straight as people drive up and down Woodward.

I love reading stuff like this. Thanks, OP.

Oh, and I agree with the "Build a tranny that'll take the torque!" comment. Leno has money coming out of his butt...he can afford anything!

V4?

edit: no way, they did. But WHY?
They didn't. There are a couple of google entries that refer to it as a V4, but the 2.2L Ecotec is an I-4. LcarsSystem (damn Trekkies) is a car n00b
