Yeah, but blatantly photoshopping previously benign adverts or quotes? That just seems lazy and stupid.

Doubt it, I've seen a lot of fishy ones over the years, this was just the first one I knew/was able to find the source material for verification.

They are sent in from people everywhere... maybe someone 'shopped it then sent it in? They have so many things they can use I doubt Leno's team edited it, especially for such a lame headline.

I supposed thats possible too. Most of the fishy ones I can recall were adverts with weird graphics or photos with stupid subtitles. Its like a lame photoshop phriday I guess.

I know for a fact that at least a few of Jay Leno's headlines are real and unmodified. I know this because my mom saw an ad for a tanning salon in a local newspaper and clipped it out and sent it in, and it made it onto the show. It showed a middle-aged WASPy looking woman with her hands up to her face in an expression of surprise, saying, "Oh my gosh, I'm white!"

If you look up the exact phrase on Google you'll find at least one reference to the Tonight Show.

yep

these.

I'm skeptical that US Airways would reprint all of their magazines over this typo.

I agree that most of them seem legit, thats why I found it odd that they would doctor ones such as this (if they did).
