Java Woes :(

Okay, after trying for a full day of fiddling around I have to come to the trusty boards for help...

-I just re-formatted...installed WinXP Pro....
-Upgraded my browser to ie6 sp1....
-Download MS virtual machine from somewhere, and installed it...
-Tried to play some java games at pogo.com and uproar.com...but when it gets going, it freezes my computer, and it just hangs fora few seconds, then lets up, and then freezes again...until i lose all my connections...and evetually am forced to re-boot.

-So I tried not using that, and using Sun's Java...well when I use this I can get pogo.com games to work...but on uproar.com...the game (family fued)in particular...will play , but at the end of the game it will freeze, and do the same as above, until again I am forced to reboot.

I've tried every possible thing I can think of..disabling NAV2002...uninstalling and reinstalling the Java's....nothing seems to work.

-If you can gimme a hand, I'd really appreciate it, because this is driving me nuts.

thanks,
BnP

The supported way of installing the MS Virtual Machine is to install WXP Service Pack 1.

Now if that causes problems, then the only alternative is to use the Sun JVM and avoid any sites that don't play well with it. The Sun VM is the reference (standard) VM for the Java platform, so it's highly recommended over the MS VM.

I just installed SP1....tried it, and it didnt work...So then I tried Sun's VM....it also didnt work.

The applet loads and everything...and plays...for a full game, but when the game is over, and it tried to reset, thats when the lock -up happens...but yet on all my other computers it works fine...I don't get it 🙁
