I need the update for my Win XP Pro, for my stat tracker for fantasy baseball, and it says the update is no longer supported at microsoft.com


what to do.........?

Sun sued MS for having the download on demand for java, hence MS no longer has it..

The only problem is when you install sun's version it still doesn't work on some sites.

i cant find the damn thing, i keep getting microsoft stuff



and i dont wanna register at sun, thats annoying and pathetic they make you do that

Totally false FUD.

Sun sued Mickeysoft for breaking its contractual Java license; not necessarily because of what they did ship (i.e. proprietary libraries) but for what they didn't ship (JNI, RMI). If you're a McDonald's franchisee and you sell a hot dog as a "Big Mac" you'll be sued out of business real quick. Because the evidence was overwhelmingly in Sun's side (and a judge issued an injuction saying as much), they both settled out of court, with MS agreeing to give up its license. HOWEVER, it was allowed a number of YEARS of maintenance to continue to offer its obsolete Java 1.1.4 VM.

MS themselves chose to discontinue shipping its VM beginning in WXP/IE6.

Not that I give two sh!ts about two big companies suing each other anyways :p
