Known Issues

Area: deploy/webstart
Synopsis: Regression - Issue in parsing jvm args for Java Web Start relaunch on Unix platforms.
Some combinations of java-vm-args and <property> elements in a jnlp file may cause some properties to be set incorrectly when Java Web Start is forced to relaunch. The problem is applicable to Solaris and Linux platforms.
In some cases, adding dummy property elements to the jnlp file may help prevent the problem.

When I tried to install it on one machine, I got an error message that the installer couldn't find a needed file, and the Java icon disappeared from Control Panel. On another machine, it may have been installed, but the icon was still missing from Control Panel.

On both machines, Java no longer appeared in Add or Remove Programs, and it took a bit of searching just to find the means to do it.

I went back to 1.7.7, and, between the recent vulnerabilities and this fuster cluck, I'm thinking of removing it entirely, at least until I have some mission critical need for it.

I saw a problem where it was installed in the programs list but disappeared from the control panel for some strange reason.

So, I uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled and then it was working again.

Thanks. Running Ccleaner, re-installing and rebooting got it right.

If I recall, CCleaner will not remove previous version entries but as long as it works...

I could be wrong, but I ran it after uninstalling ver. 1.6.7 but before installing the latest so it may have cleaned whatever was left as entries not related to installed software.

In any event, it now works so I'm not complaining.
