I'm trying to get my parents newly built for Christmas machine which is 12 hours away from me to log into a Game Room on Pogo.com.

We've been on the phone punching button for button and having them read me word for word and when we get to the last stage of entry into the game, their system locks up, the mouse pointer turns into a double ended arrow and when the move the arrow over a "close" or "minimize" box a loud clicking sound comes from inside the case!

What we've done so far:
1) Scandisk, 2)They bought a new mouse, 3)Ran Norton WinDoctor and found no errors, 4) Checked all Internet Options regarding VM, Privacy, Security, and all Advanced after looking at the game site's suggestions, 5) Tried installing VNC (VirtualNetworkComputing) program so I can just get into their machine and save dollars on phone bills, but can't get them to understand how to install it...

What's happened since it left my house in their Van on Christmas:
1) They got a cable modem, NIC card has been installed by a technician at their home.

The machine is a DFI AK-76, AMD 761chipset DDR board, 512mb PC2100, 350Watt Sparkle Power, 1.2 Ghz, 266 T-Bird, EVGA 32mb TNT2, 30G Western Dig 7200rpm HD, Mitsumi CD-Rom 48x, Floppy...very basic, but plenty of juice for what they use it for. Running Win98 with all Critical Updates and IE 6.0, Dx 8.01.

We were able to access this site and do what they are trying to do when the PC was here with me.

Any ideas? The idea of the sounds coming from the case while the mouse is being moved bothers me. I'm hoping to spare them paying somebody I don't know for service on this brand spanking new system....and I won't be in Michigan for at least 3 months.

While I can't help you with your main problem, I have experienced the "noise from the case" you're talking about. Sometimes when my comp crashes, any movement of the mouse or keyboard will cause the built-in speaker to buzz. That's probably what's happening to you.
