Java and 64-bit?

I am working with someone who has a X2 cpu and is having problems with Java. I have not looked too much into it yet but he tells me that everytime he starts an Java app, it freezes his computer. He looked on Java's website and told me that Java doesn't support 64-bit CPUs. That doesn't sound right. This is the only time that I have heard of Java and 64-bit (especially X2's) not playing well together.

Any thoughts? The typical uninstall/reinstall has already happened (according to him).

I have no problems with java on an x2 cpu. With 32 bit Windows XP, it is no different than any other 32 bit cpu.

I've seen tool bars mess with java apps. Does he have mywebsearch toolbar or something installed?
