Java 8 Update 25 is out .. not sure when it came out
Also, it was able to install and verify correct version on
Windows XP Pro with SP3 ... not sure if it will work on
other XP versions or not ... no error messages or tricks
to do the install.
 
XP is not supported according to their site for Java 8.

Even for Java 7 it says,

XP is long overdue for ditching ie RIP,plenty of good alternatives out there.
 
Maybe not, but when I went to the Java site, it suggested that version. And as I said above, it installed with no issues at all. No error messages, no tricks. Tested it on the Java site and it shows 8 Update 25 installed. Tried it on websites that use it and they all work.

Knock off the attitude. There are plenty of valid reasons why some prefer and in may still need to use XP. One small company I work for has a $60k copier that Xerox never created Vista and above software for. That's a massive expense for a small business. (and yes, there is a reason why they needed to front that much cash for the copier versus cheaper alternatives)

First don't be rude and you knock off the attitude ,I was asking a question,point is plenty of good alternatives like Win7/8,Linux etc..

I think we all know XP is no longer supported so my question was valid.

I use it since I run a Dell Dimension 8200 P4 for home use. Eventually, when it gets replaced, it will have a newer OS .. but I do not like Windows 8 or 8.1 yet. And all my software would not install on the newer OS. Plus it would cost quite a bit to buy newer versions of some programs. XP Pro works fine for what I need to do. What is important, is the Java Run Time Environment will work with older systems and I am sure I am not the only one who cares about it.

So Win7 is not an option?

I use java too on my Win8.1 and Linux distros.
 
I, too, still use XP for many of my machines. I dual boot all with win7 or win8.1. The newer versions do not have any advantages compared to XP for me. The base OS does nothing for me, my programs are more important. Since win3 I upgraded every time a new OS came out. The only thing happens is more money spent for no real improvements.

So only one computer needs to have XP.
