Japanese Usenet

I have no effin clue man. All I know is I have no real Japanese groups listed in my news servers. (road runner, newshosting, easynews..)
 
Yea but it's on US servers. I'm looking to get access to servers residing in Japan with news and bins posted by Japanese..if there is such a thing.
 
Doesn't your ISP have to carry the newsgroup in order for you to get access to it? (i.e., they have their own cached copy or some business)

I don't think you understand how newsgroups work. Any news server should be able to carry any group. Newsgroups don't "reside" anywhere. Files just get passed from one news server to another. You can request that your news server carry a particular group if you want. However, if you already have a decent provider, chances are you would already have access to most interesting groups.

Then something is funky because I've never seen a large amount of posting in Japanese in any groups. They're mostly posted in English. Either that or there just isn't a large group of Japanese users on usenet.

1) Your ISP may choose to simply not mirror content that isn't in English. Talk to your ISP about that.

2) How much Japanese have you seen posted on the internet *period* compared to English? And USENET is only a small fraction of the WWW as a whole, in any case (at this point, anyway).

If you think there isn't much japanese posted on the internet, start with yahoo.co.jp and spider. I also have 3 newsgroup servers (easynews, RR and newshosting) so it's not just my isp.

I know that but you see, they're all posted by Japanese FANS that speak and write English. Not everyday Jpn. people.

haha, there are so many japanese sites out there. of course you don't see much japanese stuff if you're not looking for it. 😛

from what i've seen, they're not that big on usenet/newsgroups. if you're just looking for people to talk to, you can always try the massive, insane 2ch.
 
yeah, if you just want files winny is probably the best way. there are some other popular ways of sharing files, but it's often a pain in the butt. lol.

Search usenet in Mongolian, you'll probably find a few. Not everything is written in English...
