This is a concept that I have yet to see but one that I would enjoy playing. Usually when they bother to port a JRPG or any Japanese game over to the US they spend the money to redo all the voices in English. If it's a company like Square Enix then they usually pull it off well. But even in the best cases it feels a little off. These are Japanese games with Japanese characters, it only feels right to have them speaking Japanese. What I would like is for them to release a subtitled version of these games. Translate all the in game text menu screens and such but keep any dialogue in the original language and use subtitles. I don't think I am the only person who would be an audience for this kind of thing. Just like people prefer subs to dubs in movies I think there would be people who would prefer this. Anyone else?

Supposedly the PS3 versions of Star Ocean and (others?) includes the Japanese voices, since the blu-ray disc has the space of 5+ DVDs.

On the Xbox MS charges a per-disc fee to publishers, so adding another disc to fit in voices would up the cost and only be used by a few people. It may have been done in some games anyway, I'm too lazy to check :)

I know that Blue Dragon for the 360 had both English and Japanese subs/dialog.

I think Eternal Sonata had the option to do Japanese voices and English subs.

I might wait two month since there is resonance of fate and gow 3 already in march. I can't survive another laughing stupidly by the sea scene again.

Lost Odyssey had English, German, French, Italian, and Japanese voices along with English subtitles, thought that was great.

for me, the FF games have generally been poor, as the main character is always some little emo bitch that I can't possibly care about, or some annoying twat that I'd rather see die more than anything else. As such, those voices tend to be shitty. Then again, it could be the crappy writing, especially with dialogue, that exists in every FF game.

There are a few characters that I thought were done well, though: Auron in FFX, Cloud & Sephiroth, Cecil, and a few of the FF3--but those weren't voice acted, of course.
