Japanese program --> translate to english?

I have a program that I would like to use, but all of the words are in Japanese. There is only a handful of phrases or words, and I would like those to be translated. How would I go about translating them?

Would I be able to take a screen shot of the program and then have someone or some program translate it for me?

First you should Google the name of the program and see if someone else hasn't already provided a tutorial or translation.

there's also another program you can use, before you run the japanese AVG games, it'll translate most things for you. don't remember the name.

Hmm, I use AGTH (Anime Games Text Hooker) for Japanese games. That captures text shown during the game (and can optionally have a clipboard translator or whatever take a crack at it). What he wants is the menus and drop downs and whatnot, though. There might be some setting that could make it find those, but I've never tried since those are easy enough that I understand them anyway. There's another program out like AGTH that converts the text inside the game, but I've never played with that one since I prefer to get the Japanese and only lookup the characters I don't know.
