Yea, I've seen that ad before, sometime around 3 or so years ago. I really doubt that's real, but you have to wonder... it looks entirely too real for it to be chopped or something (at least, the 'sailors' dancing on a deck of the ship, all looks real), so I wonder if its a skit from a show or movie or something. If that's a real recruiting ad... well, hmm. :laugh:

edit: here's a news story that features a link, but that link no longer functions. It appears completely legit, although that government site seems to no longer exist. But since it's a .go.jp website, it had to be legit... but the news story is old and they have since changed their website organization it seems, and completely ditched that jda.go.jp domain. They've since changed to MOD (Ministry of Defense). I can't find any official link to that video anymore, but since that story claims it was 'brought back', it would seem that its quite likely gone once again, probably forever. Probably wasn't a very successful recruitment ad.
Verdict: Real. Unfortunately for the JMSDF. :laugh:

They can have a limited number of armed forces for national defense. They probably have Gundams and Evangelion in one of their deep sea secret military bases though.

I think their Defense organization is large enough to constitute a military. I find no harm in allowing them to have a full military though, I mean... Germany has a full blown military once again, don't they? After being banned from having one, and even during that ban actually creating one.. and the world did nothing at the time, until they escalated that force to conduct war. Although the UN may be more prompt... I would hope... the LoN sure didn't do much with Germany pre-WWII.
