Ok, heres the deal. I'm in Japan for the year, but I have almost no ability to speak Japanese...thats why I'm here. I didnt have a laptop before coming, and I thought I could get by using the PC Labs PCs while I was here, but I've found I have to have my own PC. Not for school reasons, but I just need to have my own personal PC, not a communal one that closes early, on weekends and the many many national holidays Japan has.
Anyways, went to Akihabara and looked around for a while. Laptops seem a bit more expensive here, so I want to get the biggest bang for my buck...er...yen.
So far the best one I've found is the NEC lc7008d. It has a mPentium4 2.8Ghz, 256megs RAM, mobile Radeon 9600pro and an 80gig HDD. Thats all I could find out, since everything there, as well as anything I can find online, is in Japanese. Its used, but I'm pretty sure it said it has a 3 year warrenty. Its 189800yen.
Anyways, anybody have any experience with this brand, specific laptop or buying any Japanese laptops that would let them recommend this one to me? Even better, anybody have any recommendations on getting the best laptop for my yen? I'm looking for power, since I'm a part-time gamer and want to play some of the newer ones (I realize I wont be able to get full-everything, and Doom3 is out of the question, but at least play HL2...even if its low res and choppy...)
Lab is closing, so must run. Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

BTW, if anybody knows, would it just be better if I bought one and shipped it to my home in the US and had it shipped here?
