Japanese scientists unveiled the most human-looking "female" robot, Repliee Q1. The android's skin is made of flexible silicone and it has 31 actuators in its upper body which are powered by an air compressor to allow her to respond in a human manner. Although her actions are limited, she can still perform simple actions like turning her body, fluttering her eyelids and breathing. The android can either act independently to interact with people and respond to their touch or follow the movement of a human wearing motion sensors.
