Talk about pathetic.... that our society calls a (mostly) bared breast taboo is just... well, sad.

WTF are you talking about, nimrod?!?! Everyone of her album has gone multiplatinum, and her last hit song was out in 2001. Her new album is poised to become a hit also - the first single was already getting tonnes of requests before the superbowl, it's undoubtedly getting 100x more now.

Her albums are brilliant - while they have many songs with a sexual theme, they're mature, but a lot of the material is really good. To say such an unfounded statement only proves that you don't know a flying fsck about what you're talking about.

Im sorry, I still think it was planned by CBS and MTV..

Their PR goons said before the show that something shocking would happen during Janets preformence. CBS cut away from the streaker, but didnt cut away from her boob. 5 seconds delay is plent of time to switch to another camera. Timberlake with his "first interview" lacks all credibility. Saying he was shocked and appauled, and that he didnt know anything about it. Whatever, niether of them were shocked by it during the preformence. Jackson is taking the blame, but I bet someone at MTV and CBS okayed it and eventually during the FCC investigation, this will come out.

We're all enlightened now, right?

Now if we can get Michael on TV molesting (loving) children for us, we'll be truly enlightened.

I'm enlightened are you?

I don't know about you but my mind doesnt jump from naked breast to molesting children

I just dont equate the two

Welcome to the psycho zone. This country doesn't mind when kids see people getting harmed or killed but we go ballistic when they show part of a boobie.
Give me a break.

Excellent point

And hey, once upon a time, there was that first irresponsible news/TV show/movie/video game producer that crossed that line and brought that crap into the mainstream. That's why I am so pissed about this Janet Jackson thing. It's just another line that's been crossed and only a matter of time before we have to watch grinding, grabbing and nudity on every public channel.

And that's what I mean by the "another event in the degredation of American culture"

Janet Jackson Reportedly Won't Present At Grammys

Different title in the link from yours.
This thread title sounds like one of dmcowen674 chicken little thread titles over in P&N

Story is that the Luther Vandross to whom she was supposed to present the award to, will not be attending (due to health problem), therefore she will not be needed.

OMG she showed part of her boob! OMG OMG OMG I should be worrying about my own problems but OMG OMG OMG Janet Jackson showed skin! The outrage!

The fact that people worship/demonize celebrities like this makes me want to throw up my breakfast. People need to look in the mirror and judge themselves, but I'm sure it would hurt too much, being cowards and all.

The hypocracy reached it's peak the other night for me when they were playing Gladiator during prime time. Now I know they toned it down and sanitized it, but it's still ironic to me. A female breast is one of the most natural things in the world, giver of life to nearly every single human on this planet. Meanwhile, hacking and chopping up humans, one of the most unnatural acts a human can perform is given over 2 hours of air time? I could care less about either really, but it's just hypocritical in my opinion.

Just proof of how fame and popularity can get you off the hook. Janet is famous, but not really all that popular now - BAN. Justin is uberfamous and part of the whole teenbop popularity - no ban, hell he'll probably get longer stagetime now...

Its the same when these people commit crimes. The famous and popular ones get off. The famous and formerly popular get the book thrown at them. Its nothing new.

It's not like she's winning anything. She peaked in 1989.

haha ya I know!..... But why is everyone making such a big deal out of it?..soon it'll just fade away like all the messed up things actors/singers do..

It's the media making a big deal out of it. I find it ironic and hypocritical of my local CBS affiliate in Hartford that they gave this editorial from the station general manager saying how 'shocked and appalled' they are and were, but yet, they continue to show the clip in their newscast teasers just about every five minutes, and they air these 'entertainment news' shows like ET and Inside Edition that won't STFU about the incident. CBS and their affiliates continue to talk out of both sides of their mouth.

Maybe Justin can take off Britney's bustier and she can be banned from creating music...

Sucks how Janet is taking the fall and Justin is getting away scot free, where's old Jesse when you need him?

While I'm not agreeing whatosever with his stance, do you guys ever think the poster could be right? It seems just recently you saw Michael all over TV and now, since her, the heat and focus has been taken off of him. Maybe she did it for mixed reasons? (to help her brother out and also boost her career at the same time)
