Janeane Garofalo made an appearance on Countdown with Keith Olbermann recently in which she claimed that the only reason hundreds of thousands of people attended Tea Parties was racism.

Listen to this interview, wow, just wow.

I found her hysterical in Mystery Men, but all this does is piss off half her potential fan base (along with all the other actors and actresses that say really screwed up stuff from either side of the fence).

If she's the one I'm thinking of, the racism crap isn't even the worst. While she goes into her diatribe about these bad people protesting against the government doing what it needs to do she wants you to forget that she made previous statements about how dissent against the government is a foundation of americana and what makes the country great.

You probably should verify that before posting.

And then try to make the post logically coherent.

Thanks.

Teabaggers are:

Mostly old and impotent?- yes
White?- yes
Right wing nutjobs?- yes
Ignorant?- yes

Racist?- maybe some of them, but it's unfair to label them all racists.

that lady is mentally ill. i didn't see racist at the Denver tea party i saw your everyday Americans out protesting higher taxes and not just at the federal level but all the way down to local taxes. The tea party in Denver was mainly focused on the state of Colorado and the one chant that happened many times was "where is Ritter" (ritter is the gov of Colorado). she says that the tea party protesters did not know what they were protesting. LOL that's funny we knew exactly what we were protesting. its the left like this woman and oberman who are absoutly dumbfounded and do not understand what the protest are about so they resort to name calling and giving the people who attended these protest vial names.

Spoken like a true patriot, fan base dollars > citizenship.

Haha well that cemente my view that Olberman is in the same boat of "journalism" as Oreily and Nancy Grace. All of them should DIAF.

I'm not convinced about her opinion on racism against Obama. I know there is some, but it's not easy to measure, or to separate from basic 'hate the liberals' nuttiness.

The rest of her comments were pretty right on, especially about the 'limbic brain' in right wingers, or something to the same effect.

Yeah, I can agree with that. I used to occasionally watch his attacks on Bush, very entertaining because he held nothing back, and Bush deserved every second of it. But with Obama in office, he's become a damn hypocrite, and on the same level Bush-defending Republicans have become.

Well gee sally, since I'm on a mobile it's just a wee bit tough to listen to the clip right now. But if this is the recent one where she talks about the tea party protesters being a bunch of teabagging rednecks that don't know whats's good for them; I think I'm safe in my assumption.

I'm aware of one segment that fits your description - and also of his *blasting* Obama recently. You appear to have chosen to believe something convenient, but not accurate.

I fully support Garofalo exercising her right to free speech. In addition I applaud Olberman for sacrificing any minisucle credibility he might have had as a legitimate journalist by slupring Garafalo's swollen labia while she teabagged him. MSNBC appears to be one big adolescent joke by letting that segment air as it did.
