You need to go to the apollo.

dealing with hecklers is a prerequesite in some circles:D

A roast isn't a normal standup routine in that respect, though, and it's not every day a standup has to deal with heckling by a huge star, with a microphone, who won't shut the hell up. If he fought back he'd be taking his career in his hands - it's like a corporal being mocked by a four-star general. As I said, if I were that comic I'd want to put his head through the wall.

Yep it's easy to heckle people when you're a movie star with a giant ego. I bet his ass couldn't take it if the roles were reversed. He was never funny in In Living Color and he's lucky he even gets movie roles with that down syndrome looking face of his.

That was hard to watch.

The poor guy couldn't tell if he should play along or if he should go postal.

As I said, that's why I think it's kind of an unfair situation for the comic. He's a black comic being heckled, relentlessly, in an unfunny way, by a huge A-list movie star who also happens to be perhaps THE biggest black actor in show business at the moment, in front of a huge audience and TV cameras. He really can't return fire without putting his entire career on the line. Meanwhile, Foxx can pick and pick and pick without any repercussions.

I'm pretty sure he said Doug Christie

regardless, that was pretty funny

No, no. The guy is Doug William. Jamie was making fun of him at the end by calling him Doug Christie. To understand the joke, you need to read up on the relationship Doug Christie has with his wife.

This was before he was an A list star as the comedian said Jamies only done 2 movies and look at Jamie's hair, its the old style he used to have.

I don't know about his hair, but the comic doesn't say Jamie has only done 2 movies - in fact he acknowledges that Jamie has become successful in film after starting out with two clinkers. It looks to me as though this was probably in about 2003, because he talks about Shaq's toe surgery, which happened in the fall of 2002.

He said "Doug Christie", who that guy certainly is not.

Did you see the guy trying to make jokes? He needed some help.

Yeah, the guy sucked bad, so you could say Foxx did him a favor by getting him off the stage.

American Idol contestant syndrome in this thread?

Seriously; comedians have to roll with the punches good or bad. I'm sure Foxx got his punches moreso than the guy he was making fun of in the clip during his career.

Face the fact that the jokes were going downhill fast, and this was suppose to be a well organized event for Smith. It's like you hiring a guy in the paper for being "One of the greatest singers to hit this side of town" for a wedding only to find out he's horrible and off key the entire time. You'll probably want to stuff money in the guy's coat and tell him to go home early.

It's just the nature of this type of comedy, it's even a roast. Sure it has no tact, but then again most comedians who use material of this nature have no "tact" in the matter because it's the business they're in.

If you hear the guy's jokes anyway, it's not exactly like he's some saint. If he had the chance to capitalize, he probably would of to.

I think it would've helped if the guy would've gotten around to roasting Emmitt sooner. I mean, it is his roast after all...
