It must be so hard and tough on you to sip on your Starbucks mocha frap, lounge in your IKEA couch, criticize brave marines dying on CNN, all the while suffering under Bush's tyrannious policies. OH THE HORROR!!!! Forget about starving North Koreans, Africans, we have some major tyranny in the US!

Every tyranny starts somewhere, the trick is to stop it before it gets out of control.

Thanks, that is some scary stuff when you think about where our entitlement society started to really take its roots. About 200 years out from creation.

I tend to agree with you, but probably not just in the liberal bashing way you intended that comment. There IS a problem with the "entitlement" society, but it's a lot larger than most conservatives who use the term think. Ignoring for a moment the obvious target of corporate welfare, I think this applies to EVERYONE who thinks the government is their own personal tool to get what they want done. From people who would rather live on welfare than work to people who think the government should be their own personal morality police, we have a serious problem with people who think it's the government's job to do everything for them.

Genx87 -- I agree with you that too much entitlement is bad. People today -- from rich to poor expect an easy life and 100 layers of safety nets. But should we just let people starve in the streets? Where is the right balance between taking care of the unfortunate and being efficient?

Also, what about the welfare our farmers and corporations get? Billions and Billions of dollars. What about the corrupt deals (think Halliburton cost-plus deal or Boeing 100 bil fuel plane contract)?

And back on topic -- what about the fact that our liberties are at risk because technology now makes it extremely easy to monitor the entire population?

That is the real question in this thread.
