“Oh, there is one shot that I fixed. It’s because Neil deGrasse Tyson, who is one of the U.S.’ leading astronomers, sent me quite a snarky email saying that, at that time of year, in that position in the Atlantic in 1912, when Rose is lying on the piece of driftwood and staring up at the stars, that is not the star field she would have seen, and with my reputation as a perfectionist, I should have known that and I should have put the right star field in. “So I said, ‘All right, you son of a bitch, send me the right stars for the exact time, 4.20am on April 15, 1912, and I’ll put it in the movie.’ So that’s the one shot that has been changed.”

Related. A scientist wrote George Lucas to tell him of the impossibilities of having two stars in such proximity as those of Tatooine so in the Super-extra-special-editions-plus-3D-and-128.32-THX-IMAX version slated for 2014, he's removing one of the suns (as well all the incest scenes in ANH and ESB).

First, that's stupid, I'm not going to explain why.

And on the second, As if Luke pounded Leia a good one.

Too bad all the other glaring goofs will remain.
Ones that stick out off the top of my head IIRC:

In the beginning scenes while making way through the wreckage in the ROV groans of stressed metal are frequently heard. It's realized that this adds to the setting for the viewer (just as beeps always dubbed in when a computer is used in all movies!) but the wreckage has been (at the time) sitting for 84 years. It would be dead silent.

OTOH, the scene where Rose is walking down the partially flooded passage to find Jack has a sense of realism with the deep groaning and creaking of a structure under very high stress. It's almost over done.

In the engine room scene the brass fittings used on the gauges to monitor steam pressure were modern. The passageway lighting used soft white incandescent lighting! (same problem as fittings)

The guys looking in the lower holds for Jack and Rose (poking around the Antique cars) are carrying Maxabeam searchlights! Again stuff that wasn't around for 80+ years.

Near the end when everyone is in the water and the lifeboats are rowing shouting is heard clearly with an echo. On the open sea there is nothing to reflect the sound so there would be no echo at all.

When Rose is on Carpathia the Statue Of Liberty is also displayed from the wrong side!

No, actually I enjoyed it very much as many flicks for the story. It's always a nitpick no doubt and rarely do I mention things unless someone else does. For folks that work with this stuff every day believe me it gets noticed.

He talked about this on the Colbert/Tyson interview at a college that was posted a few weeks back.

what about when Rose frees Jack from the handcuffs and they are running nonchalantly through that water. its the same freezing cold water from the ocean. how come they are not cold and shivering then?

i love this movie.

LOL. Expected Lucas nonsense and was happy to see it wasn't nearly that level.

My friends wanted to kill me while watching Transformers 1 in theaters... I kept pointing out all the flaws. Gf at the time was going to kill me.

You must be a blast at parties. That's the way to enjoy life.

I don't do that nitpicking antisocial crap in real life. That stays online.

I have added computer beeps to my rig so that it is more realistic to the movies. It just randomly beeps all the time when I'm using it.
