James Bond Quantum of Solace

Anyone who's played this one...what are your thoughts about the game? I saw some screens and they looked good, specially the character models. Hows the actual gameplay though? Is it worth picking up, the PC version is around $60 where I stay.

graphics: 4/10

makes terrible use of the COD4 engine, textures are very unrealistic, player models look alright. the game is permantely capped at 30 fps, which brings the score all the way down for me. I'd give it 6/10 if it was uncapped.

audio: 6/10

voices are very similar to real life characters, however it lacks a movielike soundtrack that makes a game feel like a movie, not a game. basically all you hear is the james bond theme played in different ways, very repetitive.

physics: 4/10

its COD4 what can you expect. you shoot something and it sparks, doesnt move/crumble/shatter, just sparks. animations are well done but very unrealistic for the situation they occur in.

gameplay: 6/10

its actually very good and fun, i'd give it 8/10 if it wasn't for the 30 fps cap + no motion blur, that makes the game barely playable.

overall: 5/10

worth 60 bucks? hell no. download the demo before you go spend that kind of money on a 4 hour game that you will uninstall the moment you finish.

Thanks for the detailed review mate! 🙂
I think I'll save my 60 bucks and wait till the price comes down.

Its a game based off a movie. When have those ever been worth playing? 😛
Riddick?

A subpar shooter? 😛

At best, games based off a movie license are only of passable quality. Its works the opposite way to, with movies based off games nearly universally sucking.

The 007 games for PS2, and of course GoldenEye for 64, were awesome. I guess the days of good Bond games are over though...

Very true. I was kind of disappointed with the game 007: Nightfire. The level designs were good enough but the AI and weapon sounds were terrible. Besides, the game was far too short. 🙁

Ya you could name the odd game that's the exception but generally the movie -> game doesn't go so hot. It's a rule of thumb that everyone whose been into gaming for anytime knows and lives by.

Woah, Riddick was so not a subpar shooter.
Did you ever play it?
It was one of those bizzaro-world situations where a really crappy movie turned into an awesome game.
