Jake Plummer to get fined for still wearing a Number 40 Decal for Tillman

they required NFL players to wear the number 40 sticker back in week two, now they want to penalize people for wearing it to other games. I don't agree with the NFL on this one, Jake Plummer was a close friend of Tillman's, playing with him in college and in Arizona, and I feel he shouldn't be penalized for something in memory of Tillman.

I thought they were going to have the sticker on all year. that's what they should be doing.

That's freakin rediculous. Its not like he's insisting on wearing a swastika or carrying a sharpie. Its in memorial of a close friend, and the Cardinals are wearing the number all season.

Most of mine aren't particularly important either, but the decorations that some guy I've never met wears on his clothes is pretty far down the importance list... Maybe right below what syringer had for dinner last night. Hell, at least I've been acquainted with syringer, and could possibly get a recipe if his dinner was good. There's absolutely nothing useful or interesting that could come from a sticker on the helmet of someone I'll never talk to.

You need to never read off topic forums again with that attitude.

The No Fun League strikes again.

as a side note .. I have a good friend who was stationed at the same base as Tillman. They had a few friends in common and had met and talked to Tillman on occasion. I guess he was a pretty cool guy. I think Plummer ought to be able to wear the decal for as long as he wants. It's not like Tillman was killed the same way Justin Strzelczyk was .. in a drunken fireball.

I worked in a bar in Tempe, AZ and Tillman used to come in once in a while. Never had anyone with him...always sat at the bar alone...and never talked to anyone. He was always nice to me though whenever we happened to chat.

The article says the NFL has a "long-standing policy [which] prohibits personal messages on uniforms or helmets." Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't some players write stuff on their gloves or shoes? Couldn't Plummer do that?

But I still agree it's stupid to fine him for something as petty as that. The NFL really needs to lighten up imo.
