Jailbreaking the iPad Air?

Our phone (Moto Droid Razr HD) has been upgraded to "Kit-Kat" and unbeknownst to me, that eliminated the FoxFi WiFi tether feature. This was our main method for getting the iPad on the internet. Apparently, the Bluetooth tether still works, but the iPad won't connect that way natively, it needs to be "jailbroken". I've never done it before, but some quick googling indicates it should be pretty easy and low-risk.

Is that same sentiment here? Has anyone had any unresolvable problems doing this? Obviously I will back everything up before I begin the process.

It's been taking longer and longer for jailbreaks now as Apple learns how their OS is being exploited. That and there's fewer teams working on cracking the software. iOS is not power user friendly, which is why I'm starting to move away from it.

Fortunately, evasi0n is pretty safe and easy. It's hard (though not impossible) to completely brick an iDevice through jailbreaking. If it fails, you just have to put it in DFU mode and restore it to the factory default.

It might be easier for a way to root your phone to enable tethering instead than going then jailbreak iOS approach.

Had a similar issue with my Nexus 5, but there are workarounds to enable tethering again via rooting.

Hmm.. thanks for the info. Unfortunately, "Kit-Kat" doesn't look like it has a root option yet either, at least on the Droid Razr HD.
