Great to hear, I was wondering if they would allow people to get away with shit like this.
Four Muslim men have been jailed for their part in protests at the Danish embassy in London, against cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad.

Mizanur Rahman, 24, Umran Javed, 27, and Abdul Muhid, 24, were each jailed for six years for soliciting to murder after telling a crowd to bomb the UK.

A fourth man, Abdul Saleem, 32, was jailed for four years for stirring up racial hatred at the protest in 2006.

The men, from London and Birmingham, were convicted at the Old Bailey.

Judge Brian Barker said their words had been designed to encourage murder and terrorism.

Muhid was not a man without prospects

Who are the jailed four?

About 300 protestors marched outside the Danish embassy in February last year after cartoons satirising Muhammad were published in newspapers in Denmark and other European countries.

Outside the sentencing hearing, a group of around 40 demonstrators waved placards with slogans including "Muslims Under Siege".

'Blood running'

Rahman, from Palmers Green, north London, was filmed at the rally talking over a loudspeaker and calling for UK soldiers to be brought back from Iraq in body bags.

He said: "We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad.

"We want to see the Mujahideen shoot down their planes the way we shoot down birds. We want to see their tanks burn in the way we burn their flags."

We shall continue to take incitement very seriously and prosecute it robustly where there is enough evidence for us to do so
Sir Ken Macdonald, DPP

Limits on freedom of speech?

Javed, from Birmingham, was filmed by police shouting: "Bomb, bomb Denmark. Bomb, bomb USA."

Father-of-five and BT engineer Saleem was cleared of soliciting murder at his trial in February, but convicted of stirring up racial hatred.

Saleem, from Poplar, east London, chanted, "7/7 on its way" and "Europe, you will pay with your blood".

Finally, Abdul Muhid, 24, said to be the leader of the demonstration, chanted "Bomb, bomb the UK" and waved placards with slogans such as "Annihilate those who insult Islam".

The men had denied having extremist views and said they were simply following others rather than leading the protests.

'Stepped over line'

After the case, Ch Supt Ian Thomas, of the Metropolitan Police, said: "We have a long history of facilitating lawful demonstration, taking into account freedom of speech.

"However, these people stepped over that line and broke the law."

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Sir Ken Macdonald, said: "Terrorism attacks our way of life and incitement can make a very real contribution to it.

"We shall continue to take incitement very seriously and prosecute it robustly where there is enough evidence for us to do so."

Good. That's what they get for acting like savages on the streets of a civilized nation.

I wonder if they have jailhouse "Bubba's" in the UK...

Nice. Too bad we can't ship them to Guantanamo for some additional shock therapy.

A fourth man, Abdul Saleem, 32, was jailed for four years for stirring up racial hatred at the protest in 2006.

It's interesting that he was convicted of such a thing when the entire British National Party and UK politicians do the same only with rare punishment.

The British National Party marched down the street shouting "Death to our fellow Brits in Iraq" or ""We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad"...? I must have missed those rallies...

According to the article, he was convicted of stirring up racial hatred, not soliciting for murder like the other guys. Are you claiming that the BNP and many British politicians do not stir up racial hatred? The BNP is a popular white supremacist political party.

It's pretty obvious in the context that it was essentially about stirring up hatred with intent of violence: "Europe, you will pay with your blood." The BNP, on the other hand, is officially pro-discrimination, but not pro-violence.

Look at it another way: if a cop is on a freeway where the speed limit is 65, and car 1 is going 110 while car 2 is going 80, who is the cop going to go after? The more extreme offender, obviously.

edit: with something like under 1% of the popular vote I would hardly call the BNP 'popular'.

England has a very different idea than the US when it comes to free speech.
Can you imagine if this group had done their protesting in the US? Most likely nothing would have happened to them.

You're only looking at a single metric. 25% of the British voters surveyed would vote for the BNP. That number has been increasing over the years. What do you think is happening when the BNP only officially gets 1% of the vote? They are voting for other parties because they adopt BNP ideals.

Great, another opportunity blown. Why not just surveil these guys who were shouting death threats and use them to find the people who actually plan to carry out death threats?

This is a close call legally. Seems close to the equivalent of inciting a riot. Not sure if there actually has to be a riot to convict someone for that though. You'd think so.

Oh, and I have a monstrous crush on Moonbeam.

I never realized that joking about something makes me a savage. Funny, I thought respecting people of all religions, colors and status would make me less of a savage. And if you incite people to commit terrorist violence against innocent civilians, you should be brought to justice. The UK needs to be vigilant, the extremist elements within their society are preparing to strike innocent civilians again.

Assuming you even have a family, how would you like to have all of them blown up by one of these savages, their bodies torn apart, scattered all over the street? (you know about a month ago they loaded cars with explosives hoping to kill civilians) .
How would you react? By feeling sorry for the savages that commited the crime? You wouldn't be upset about the fact that they target civilians? Tell me what your reaction would be, since according to your logic "the savage hatred of savages is what savagery is"?

Good. These idiots need to learn that some silly cartoon in a newspaper isn't a freaking conspiracy to destroy Islam. :| They need to learn that not everyone in the world suffers a nervous breakdown or goes batshit violent when they hear a negative or derogatory comment about a religion. These ungrateful idiots in Western nations should realize that their adopted nations (assuming they aren't natural-born citizens) give them a right to express their opinions in a peaceful manner as long as they don't abuse it and harm the peace.

The world has enough hatred and problems and there is no need to seize every little opportunity to demand 'the blood of UK soldiers to flow through the streets' because a couple of Danes made a few caricatures.

They scream from the rooftops - 'don't judge one billion Muslims based on radical outfits like the Al-Qaeda'. They complain that they have to undergo stricter checking at airports. They complain that they get dirty looks and are always suspected of being terrorist-apologists if not terrorists themselves. And then they go ahead and give the world absolutely no reason to view Muslims as normal people who are capable of respecting the law and their country. It pisses me off.
