My 'time' was all of 4 hours. I got my cot set up, read a book alone for a couple hours, then got invited to a game of spades in the common room. I'd won about $3 when my father arrived to bail me out. That was about it really. Very calm overall.

And no, I don't have a criminal record. It was a bad arrest and everyone knew it, everything was dropped completely the next day.

One of my buddies got locked down for like 3 or 4 days, nothing major he just hung out really, as long as you are cool nobody messes with you (at least for short stays). When he got out we made it our mision to always bring up his time "on the inside" at bars when he met women

lol...and that actually worked?

I'm sure it did; like lemmings to a cliff, a great deal of women have an instinctual attraction to stupid men with criminal tendencies who will treat them badly.

Avoided 30 days in jail once when the Judge didn't ask the right question. Meanwhile my friends were dragged off to do their "time".

I was in for 3 days when I was younger ... walking in shackles isn't easy at all ...

It was crazy ... but if you don't say a word to anyone, most of the guys will just let you be. They don't know if you're some guy who slapped his wife or killed a gang of bikers with one hand tied behind your back.

...College roomate ended up in the slammer for being "Drunk In Public", he was in the back seat of a car with some other drunks, driven by a sober driver. The officer asked him to step out of the car and then, voila, he was drunk in public. It was his 21st Birthday too... bummer.
While his friends were being booked and fingerprinted too, they were singing Happy Birthday to him... it would have been funny to see that...

He calls me at like 9am the next morning to come post bail. I said, ok, after my Class, it can't be that bad... he said, "No! come get me out now!".. I skipped class and posted bail.

travelled to europe in spring 2002. spent a weekend in amsterdam, then on to berlin via train, and we had a small amount of illegal substance with us. no problem, were even able to smoke it in a public bar in berlin. after a few days in germany, back to amsterdam for a couple days. left for paris via train, with a small amount in my pocket in a cigarette box, and a small amnt. in a backpack

we were napping, train was passing thru Belgium at the time. when I awoke to a dog sniffing me up, and 3 suspicious looking plain clothes dudes. they look me over, then go on to the next train car. I quickly rid the stash in my pocket into the garbage, but couldn't get to the backpack before they came back in.

dudes stood around near us like they were waiting for the next stop, Antwerp I believe it was. they started to grab my backpack like it was theres. we were like yo wait a minute thats ours. Thats when they wipped out their badges - belgian gestapo narcs :p

took us down to this real shithole jailhouse, searched all our belongings. I was clean, and released. they found the small amount on my companion, but they just took our passport info and confiscated it and sent us on our way. The one guy who spoke English explained that while they were trying to change their laws, it was still technically illegal there but of course they are not interested in aerresting american tourists for a gram. there was a long line of people pulled off the train from amsterdam that were waiting to be processed.

overall, great experience :D

They break the law in ways that are unlikely to get them arrested, and even less likely to send them to a Federal PMITA prison. RIAA lawsuits are a much more real concern to most geeks that covering their cornholes.

I was thrown in jail overnight in Canada.
Apparently, I was dozing with my head down in an ashtray in a dive bar. At least that is how I very dimly recall it.
It cost me $80 to bail myself out.

Wasn't there a guy posted on ATOT awhile back that claimed to have just gotten out of jail from some kind of gang related charge?

I have a good jail.courtoom story....

Got a ticket for making an illegal turn out of a dunkin donuts store - my turn to buy for the office that particular Friday....my POS (now) ex-wife says she'll take care of getting the ticket paid.........1.5 years later I come home from basketball and house stinks like cat litter...it's a bit after 11pm, so I had to drive a bit to get to a 24hr grocery store, and it's pouring rain, a really hard storm......I get pulled over about halfway...apparently one of the headlights of my pickup had burned out.....so he takes my info, goes back to his car............and waits.........and waits.....about 20 minutes later he comes up and asks me to get out of the car, cuffs me, kind of pushes me onto the hood, pats me down, asks me if I have any weapons, etc, etc...I am like "wtf is going on?"....turns out there was a warrant for my arrest FROM THE UNPAID TICKET mentioned previously...so they take me to the local station, finger print me, take some pictures....I call the POS at home, and it's probably 1am by now...and she hangs up on me, thinking it was a wrong number as she was 99% asleep while I was talking...nice.....so then the cops come from the city where I got the ticket, and take me to their jail......they ask me for my shoelaces....I'm like "why?"...uh...some people have hung themselves....my reply is "it's an unpaid traffic ticket!", and another remark about the fact that my shoelaces would likely not hold up since I'm 6'0 and 3 bills....so I put my lovely orange suit on, and am shown to the cell area.....two 'cells' on each side with a tv in the middle...3 other people in there.....one had raped his ex wife, one was in for his 5th or 6th drug related arrest, and the other guy had some parole violation involving selling weapons....(I found out all that the next day, I didn't know it then..)...so I go sleepless that night, and the next morning we get carted off to the courthouse a few cities away...lucky for me, that day is traffic court day - so I get to walk in front of a few hundred people in an orange suit and handcuffs.....as we were walking into the courthouse, I was very thirsty, but I was cuffed to the guy in front of me, who was a little tiny guy....so I braced myself for the inevitable tug, but I was stopping to get a drink of water.....nearly pulled his arm off! He was all pissed, but I didn't even respond to him...

So we are in the courtroom....the first guy gets up - had raped his ex wife...real classy guy...the crowd is clearly appalled with this guy...pretty much the same thing for the next two as well....my turn....the judge, who could pass for the twin brother of the guy who killed himself near the beginning of Dances with Wolves, kind of paused when he read the charges aloud...."unpaid traffic ticket" doesn't have the impact that 'assault, rape, and felony weapons charges' have...then he remarks that it had been a little over a year and a half since the ticket was given, and asked how they tracked me down - he didn't appreciate the humor in my remark of "must have been all those milk cartons my picture has been on"....and then I was fined $300, and that was it....and I asked if it was necessary for me to spend a night in jail for that purpose, with no reply.....

I never did get my shoelaces back....

The cities involved are North Randall (jail), Bedford (courthouse), and University Hts (pulled over) - and they can all below me....

These stories need no embelishment....
