Jagged Edges?

I am running a Radeon HD 6950 and am noticing jagged edges in games that I am sure should be running without a hitch.

My drivers are up-to-date but cant seem to get it to function just right.
Here's an example of such: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/684/screenshot00002p.png/

My AA is on x16 and all settings are on high.

I've also noticed this in SC2, Civilization 5 and The Witcher 2 which in this case, are the only games I have run so far.

All help is much appreciated.

CCC: 3D Application Settings:
AA: Enhance Application Settings
-Detect Edges
-Samples 12xEQ
-Morphological Filtering: ON
Anisotropic Filtering: Use Application Settings
Tessellation: AMD Optimized
Catalyst A.I.: Enable Surface Format Optimization -High Quality
Wait For Vertical Refresh: 3/4 Of the way adjusted towards the quality side
Anti-Aliasing: Super-Sample AA
Open GL: Triple Buffering -OFF

I think its pretty well known forcing AA does not do anything in Borderlands except bring down the framerate. a while back somebody on the Steam forums claimed it did and I tested it out and nope, no difference. I have even zoomed in with various levels and it does make a bit of difference in that game.

The problem is your “enhance” setting – you won’t get any AA unless the game asks for it. Set it to “override”. Also super-sampling won’t work in DX10/DX11 on AMD boards.

This is absolutely untrue. It works on nVidia and I'm pretty sure it works on AMD's cards now too.

it most certainly did not when I tried it. there was zero difference no matter how much AA was applied.

Your tests were flawed then. nVidia had AA working in Borderlands very quickly after the game was released. You were either using old drivers or old hardware.

Do you not understand how to analyze screenshots? Can't you see http://postimage.org/image/29jjv0e9w/full/ clearly has AA? Your own screenshots prove you wrong.

It would also help if you knew how to take better screenshots.
if you have to look that hard for it then whats the point. it had a massive impact on frame rates but using 8x was absolutely no better looking in the game even when looking for the difference.

now those current screenshots do show it in a better light but game was modded to remove outline also. and unfortunately the pics were resized.

I have two unzoomed screenshots right now that show differences as plain as day (unmodded game). During in-game movement the difference is even more apparent.

The difficulty with your initial screenshots comes from the fact that they were poorly taken. Even then I could spot the AA.

and AGAIN when actually playing the standard game having 8x does not have a visual advantage at all. if you stare at it while its zoomed in maybe you will see some minute difference but so what? with the black outline in the standard game there will always be jaggies so whats the point?

Again, this is absolutely false. Your own screenshots proved you wrong.

Your original claim: I think its pretty well known forcing AA does not do anything in Borderlands except bring down the framerate. is wrong. Retract it and stop spreading misinformation.

Like I said, I have unzoomed images of the stock game and they show differences plain as day. It’s not my fault that you don’t know how to analyze your own screenshots.

yes I retract my statement because I can see it getting applied to the modded game. I have perfect vision and there's is no damn way in hell I can see the difference while playing in the actual unmodded game though. maybe you can analyze the first two screenshots and pick it out but it does not change what I can or cannot see. the unmodded game still has jaggies especially visible on the black outline whether you use 8x AA or not.
