My trainer at the gym had said something to me awhile back about how I need to eat healthy, but I also cam have cheat meals. I wasn't fully paying attention but I think he either said once a month, or once a day. I decided it's better to be safe than sorry and went with a daily cheat meal. But I keep it reasonable, I got just the burger, so no fries and I'm drinking water. My trainer would approve - or maybe, or maybe not. Oh well...

Jack has awesome ass grilled dough, it's always crunchy and never at all greasy. At least at my location. This burger has the most melty Pepper Jack Cheese I've ever seen. The meat was juicy, the cheese was super gooey with just the right amount of flavor. I don't believe this is regular cheese, I've never seen cheese melt like this in my life. It wasn't soupy either so I'm not sure what the fuck it was. I found the Jalapeno's to be pretty mild. I was hoping for some more kick, but to be fair I can eat Habeneros straight. I wasn't expecting a burn my mouth burger, but I would have dug a bit more umph. I got it without the Onion Rings as I hate Onion and everything Onion related. IMHO Jack should have batter and fried the Jalapenos. Burgers with fried Jalapenos rule.

But that's not to say I didn't enjoy it, 'matter of fact it was delicious. And I plan to make it my cheat meal again before the week's up. It's a "limited time" burger and I think it's been around for awhile now. With my luck this is the last week they'll offer it. So perhaps I'll try to squeeze it in for 2 more of my cheat meals this week. It's good to have goals. Down side was the price. It was like a big cheeseburger on Sourdough with different cheese & Jalapenos. The B.C.B on grilled sourdough is under $2.00 with tax, this was $4.64. Not a good deal at all. But it's a good burger, hummm I wonder if I can order a BCB and have them sub for pepper jack cheese and add Jalapenos. I shall try this when I go back Friday.

This would make a great permanent addition to the menu.

i love sourdough bread and always order everything on it at jack when i do go. though i have not gone to jack in the box much in the past bunch of years since i've been much healthier and tend to avoid red meat these days.

but yeah cheat meals totally work when you are in shape. i have some cousins / friends who are well grossly over weight, and i always tell them that they can eat the same foods just less of it, but they are food addicts. when a hot mess burger is a treat , and you only eat say 1, its totally fine.

one of my cousins...he'll eat say 2 in n out double doubls for dinner. not just 1.... 2!!!

Maybe it's me, but that does not sound appetizing at all. But it would explain the name "Hot Mess".

I'm not eating a burger that looks like the JITB staff bukkake in it. That's nasty.

Doesn't sound good to me.

I love the commercial though. "...and that's how I met your mother."

The one I had hardly had any sauce or cheese. It was mostly just meat and onion rings and was very dry. I was expecting a gooey mess and was left sorely disappointed.
It sounds like the culprit might be that my location is niggardly though.

I rarely ever eat fast food (once a month or less) but that looks good. I wish we had JITB on the east coast sometimes.

There's actually quite a few in Charlotte, NC, and some in South Carolina. I think that's about it though.

We'll see how it compares to this...

Kryptonite Sandwich from Ike's (about the same girth as a 2L soda bottle)

OMG WHERE CAN I GET THAT??

as to the subject, I rarely eat ff burgers these days, but the Hot Mess does look damn tasty, and I've been curious about it.

But, I grew up on the east coast, so all I really know about JitB is e coli and killing kids....so it takes me a long time to warm up such places. I had assumed they went out of business with that scandal because I always assumed they were a small business, having never seen one for about 2 decades. ....just one more hurdle for me to pass before walking into a JitB.

those are new though, right? I'm from Raleigh, and never saw one growing up on the east coast (moved away in 2003).

No idea. They've been there at least 5 years that I know of. There are none in the triangle though.
