J. Michael Straczynski to write script for the re-make of Forbidden Planet.
What it is, he won?t precisely say, although he is quick to point out he has a lot of top Artificial Intelligence experts at his beck and call for consultation. ?Cause that?s what makes excitement - the specificity of the scientific community.
"It's not a remake. It's not a reimagining. It's not exactly a prequel. You'll have to see it. It's something that no one has thought of when it comes to this storyline."
While the original had the 1950's computer kitsch of flashing lights that couldn't possibly mean anything, the movie itself was, imo, awesome.

Most people don't know that some of the special effects were done by artists from Walt Disney, especially the invisible monster caught in the blaster crossfire.
I guess with the remake of War of the Worlds it was inevitable to remake Forbidden Planet.
I hope Robby the Robot is back!

Curiously, shots showing the shape of the invisible monster outlined in the blaster beams were evidently removed from some prints shown on television ? presumably because its appearance was considered too terrifying for younger viewers ? and it was many years before these shots were restored. According to a "Behind the Scenes" feature on the DVD release, a close look at the creature shows it to have a small goatee beard, suggesting that it is connected to Dr. Morbius, the only character with this feature.
