I admit, I have never gotten into "Classic" Rock.

I have a friend who is a huge LZ fan, and he has been urging me to give them a try. Tonight, he brought over a MP3 CD full of Zeppelin songs. From what I can tell, he appears to have songs sorted by album each in their own directory.

Honestly, the only LZ song I am familar with is "Stairway to Heaven".

So, which album would you recommend I start with?

All of them are good, and most of them have a real mix of styles from song to song, hard rock / metal, blues, even acoustic playing.

Why not start at the beginning, and hit the next track button for the ones you really don't like?

My favourite is Zepplin 4. Also known as Oldman with sticks and The black album. Nice variety of songs, including the best blues song ever made "When the Levee Breaks".

Zepplin 2 is great too.

Don't ask me, cuz I don't like what is traditionally considered good Zep, but...

I'd have to say Houses of the Holy or IV (runes).

I'd have to agree with the person who said to go chronologically.

My fav LZ CD would have to be I or Presence.

Tough call. I guess my overall fav is II, but I also really like Physical Graffiti and then Presence has my all-time fav Zep song, "Nobody's Fault but Mine."

i just realized i didn't have the BBC sessions mp3'd. so i put disc one in the drawer and start ripping encoding. EAC says its done so i go and check and its all screwed to hell. this is what happens when you have the same filename 4 times.

There is no single "best" Led Zeppelin album. Your best bet is to experience them as people did when they came out, i.e., chronologically.

IV and Houses of the Holy. Personally love every song on those 2; can't say the same for I and II though those are great too.
