Just watched this on public TV. Extremely well done.

For any of you young'uns gung ho for combat, watching this documentary all the way through should be a prerequisite.

Grandfather was an officer of navigation on the landing, giving briefings to a lot of the first to die and then sleeping in the sand the first night praying he didn't get hit by artillery.

When I was stationed in Okinawa I was able to take a trip to Iwo Jima, well worth it if anyone ever gets the chance. My great-grandfather was awarded a MOH for actions in that battle.
