iwin toolbar, the worst malware ever

I have spent 2 days so far trying to delete this from a friends computer. You can't uninstall it, and even in safe mode (not sure if the computer will ever boot normally after hacking the registry) its a nightmare to remove.

I will reply back if I ever get it gone.

What program was your friend installing and from where? Was this a bundled toolbar that asked permission or did it slip in unannounced?

Boot to a windows disk, same version of windows they have if you can. Go into repair my computer and then choose a system restore point that is before they got the infection.

It was installed without his knowledge or permissions in 2011, so I don't think there is a restore point usable. BTW, I found a windows temporary internet files subdirectory with 3.5 million files in it ! Its going to take over 24 hours to delete them all !

it's amazing what's happened to freeware in the last few years... everything just seems to be bundled with not just one but like 3 or 4 different spyware programs. Everyone wants their piece of the pie.

I assume generic temporary internet files from last five years that never got deleted.
I bet it's one of the most typical machines of a person who just uses the PC for normal work and browsing. Those files accumulate really easily.
