Iwill XP333 Problems...

Well, I bought an Iwill XP333 to go along with my Athlon XP 1700 and my 256mb of Corsair DDR, the first XP333 was marked Rev 1.1 and it was DOA. The second XP333 board that I got from this same vendor after taking it back for RMA was marked Rev 2.1, and was DOA as well. Needless to say, I wont be buying another Iwill board anytime in the next couple decades. I was wondering if anyone else has had these DOA issues with Iwill before? And....does anyone know of the Abit KR7A or the Epox 8KHA+ having issues with the Soundblaster Audigy, I know some VIA boards had issues with the SB Live! cards.

As far as I know, SB problems w/ via are fixed, but somebody who has dealt w/ it would know better.

The odds of you getting two DOA boards in a row are also extremely slim. You sure you're not doing anything wrong? What kind of power supply do you have?

its a 300w. The one that comes with the Fong Kai FK320 case, Anand has a review on it. It's AMD certified...and in fact, I'm typing on a Duron 800 on a KT133 system on that same power supply as we speak. I dont think I'm doing anything wrong, unless MAGIK 1 chipsets require some special attention to detail that KT133's dont. I put together PC's in my spare time for people and I've probably done over 50 mobo installs...I've only once had a DOA board and that was from AOpen a while back. Anyways....if the Iwill board is more sensitive to power supplies than my current Abit board is, I still dont want another Iwill board 😉. All my components still work, Im using the same video/sound card on this current system, and I ran my Athlon XP and ram down to a buddies house down the street and popped into his board (an ABIT KR7A) and they both work fine. So I'm pretty much convinced that I somehow got two DOA boards...as unlikely as its supposed to be. Maybe UPS dropped the box these were in...several times hehe.

Yeah, if it came in the fong fai, it should be good.

Where did you get the boards from, mabye they don't pay their warehouse people enough.... 😉

It just seems so strange that you got two DOA in a row. Not that it's not possible...mabye you should go buy some lotto tickets now.

The XP333 seems to be a pretty good board. I would just order it again from a different company. Perhaps the retailer you are ordering from does not keep proper care of their motherboards.

Well, the one I wanted was the Leadtek Winfast SIS735 board....but they didnt have it. And I have heard some bad stories of the KT266a's and Soundblaster cards. But if that stuff has been worked out, there shouldnt be any reason for me to not go with a VIA based board.
