How about the aBit KT7a non raid? whats the highest XP cpu it can handle?

im planning to use an XP 1800+ on the KT7a

and an XP 2000/2400+ on the KK266Plus-R

if someone can give me some input on this 2 boards and which bios i should have ... thanks!

Hi, I have similar question. Can my Iwill KK266Plus (non Raid) handle newest (Thoroughbred A/B and maybe even Barton) cores of Athlon XP ?

Did you find out if your KK266 does?

No,

According to Iwill the KK266+ will only support up to 1900+ If I remember correctly from the Iwill forums at AMDMB the board only supports chips with Palomino cores, and these can be difficult to find. The Tbred cores don't seem to run at all, much less the Barton. There have been some guys that have tried, but no joy. Some people have even asked Iwill what the deal is so they can try to change resistors themselves to try to make it work. Unfortunately they have not released this info, leaving alot of bitter feelings.

However with a 'plus' board you guys are in a better position than myself. I have on of the early non-plus boards, and they only support up to 1400 T-bird reliably (some have gotten palomino cores to work, others have failed). So I've got that space heater in my system since I didn't want to take a risk with anything else.

weeber,

Thanks for the info. It was very helpful. I guess I have to hunt for a Palomino core Athlon.

forgot to update this tread since i initially started it back on 08/02/03.

I was able to install an XP 2100+ on my Abit KT7a and was able to o'c it to 2.4GHz .. There's great info on how to OC with the KT7 seriaes boards using this same xp 2100+ cpu.. You can even achieve 2200Ghz without any modifications and on air cooling too !!

Read the link for more info and how it's all done with those old KT7 boards.. have fun :p
