this is my roomates board
we got the iwill kk266-r, 1.4tbird, sk-6 + 40cfm ys-tech fan in hopes of hitting 1.6ghz+

the thing is.. when i tried to up the fsb, its max was at 132.. i was like wtf?
and the multiplier max was at 12.5

my other friend got a iwill kk266plus and he got the same stuff but his board lets us go up to 166mhz fsb and 14x multiplier

do i need to update the kk266-r's bios?

thanx in advance

You need to set the FSB back to 100mhz and put the small yellow jumper on the 133mhz position. The jumper is to the left of the memory slots. It comes in the 100 mhz position by default. Look at this picture of the KK266-R Plus from Newegg and look for the yellow jumper in between the CPU socket and memory slots. Once you have it in the right position, the bios will have FSB options from 133 and up...

The newer bios has multipliers up to 15 I believe, but why do you need over 12 for 133mhz FSB? 14 x 133 = 1862mhz...no where near that is likely. If you want to run 1400 with a 100mhz FSB, you would need to download the latest bios with the extra multipliers. :)
