IWILL KK266 motherboard not resetting properly ?

Just got my new system, an Athlon 1.4ghz running on an IWILL KK266mhz motherboard.

The system runs fine, except that it can't seem to handle a reset or soft reboot right. If I unplug the power supply, plug it back in, and power up, the system boots correctly. With a soft reset, the video goes out, and never comes back, I never get a nice beep, but both hard drives spin up. The system never gets any further though...

So, think it's something I can fix by going to the latest motherboard BIOS, is this a known bug with some motherboards, or should I return it for a new one ?

Thanks for the advice !

Im using the 5/15 bios!
No boot issues! I would try updating the bios before returning it!

What kind of power supply r u using>?

I think I'm on the latest BIOS as well. It's a 300 watt power supply, allegedly 'Athlon Approved' if you believe newegg.

I've been told to bump the VIO voltage slightly to see if that helps the stability - I'll give that a shot tonight.

Thanks for the advice !

Same problem here!

It was worse for me because I could not power off and back on again (would have to wait up to 15 mins). For me it was because I had a 200FSB CPU and I needed to lower the default multiplier from 14X to 12X (because it was trying to boot at 14x133 before the BIOS settings for the multiplier kicked in). This problem has gone away however I still cannot reset.

So maybe the reset thing is a whole different matter 😕

Do you got your boot and power button wires in correctly?

I have KK266 with 1.33ghz Tbird 266bus and the board runs like a dream! Most stable system I have ever owned!

There is nothing wrong with the wiring the machine definitely resets the problem is is that it does not boot up again. You just get a blank screen, is that right jtallon?

Correct MCS - the shutdown side is fine, it's coming back up that is the problem. The video signal goes out as it shuts down, and never comes back. I can hear the hard drive and cd-rom spin up along with the CPU fans & stuff, but I don't hear the motherboard beep, and I never get a video signal back...

It's a 300 watt power supply in a brand new case, with a brand new Athlon 1.4 ghz 266FSB chip, and a brand new motherboard...

I GET THE SAME THING! WHAT IS WRONG (BROKEN CAPS KEY) i replaced the ram and stuff! i have an Andtec 300W PSU!

So you still have this problem, even after replacing that stuff ? Do you have the Iwill kk266 motherboard as well ? I've got a Radeon LE video card, 2x256meg Kingston value PC-133 sticks of memory... Just trying to think of things it could be. I find it hard to believe it could be the memory though, since it's brand new as well...

i am using an ASUS A7V133, i have 2 sticks of PNY PC133 64mb sticks on it and i get reboot problems, i take it out and put my Toshiba PC100 128meg stick and still get the same problem, um, i have a Radeon 64mb DDR VIVO, maybe its the RADEON!!! what network card do you have? i have a older netgear one...

does iWILL have an optio for SK drive strength, i was reading the forums on amdmb.com and people say that increasing the SKdrive strength for the ASUS should fix it...

I get a problem like that. I've replaced my video card and that seems to work a little a while: then it happens again. I,ve run out of video cards, three so far. I am now waiting on a RMA on my IWILLkk266 I have a samsung Monitor DF17-whatever. and I heard someone else having boot with problems that monitor.

AMD 1 GHz @ 1350
Iwill kk266-r
Leadtech Gforce 2 pro
emermax 350 PS
emermax server case
180 cas 2 memory

Luckily I dont tend to reboot very often, and in my case, if I power down by holding the power button in for 5 seconds and then power back on it comes up okay. But it's a strange problem, glad to know I am not the only one!

Does restart work for you guys OK? Mine will restart fine.
