Iwill KK266 can't feed enough juice to my GF3?? Does it work on yours?

This is starting to tick me off!! However, here goes. I got a Ti200 from BB the other day(Visiontek) and it won't work on my Iwill KK266 with 300w Antec PSU. However, it works in my POS K6-2 475 with an ALi chipset...go figure. I called up Visiontek and they think it's the PSU not feeding enough juice into the card quick enough to start to POST. I'm wondering if anyone has this problem...and if anyone knows how to fix. I e-mailed Iwill, but I heard their support kind of sucks...I hope that isn't true..

Yep, had the same problem on two different KK266R's so I sold them.

Funny thing was when the GF3 was in there the floppy drive went nuts. It finally killed the drive too! :|

Cheers!

Someone pointed this out to me, now I'm passing the favor along...

Check out the KK266 FAQ at http://www.x-faqtor.com/KK266.htm

And/or try posting a question at the AMDMB.com IWill Forums. I recently got some help there with some freaky obscure problems with my KK266, I'd imagine you'll find someone there who can help you, too.

I'd try, but I missed out on the GF3 deal... :(

Glad I choose the Asus A7V133 instead of the Iwill KK266 when I last upgraded. My brand new Gainward GF3 would be getting head aches and so would I. :)

Yep, I had problems with a Asus 8200 GF 3 and the KK266 non raid board. Sometimes it would post and other times it would not post. Yanked it and replaced it with a ATI 7500 and as was well again.

Here is my perfectly fine system:
KK266-r
tbird 1@1.33
512 mushkin/generic ram
Vistiontek gf3 ti200
iomega burner
afreey 50x
linksys nic
teac floppy
bunch of fans

==all on a 300watt antec PSU.

the gf3 is OCed a little, but not much cause even RTCW doesn't benefit much at 1280x1024(max res for my 17" monitor) by having the gf3 OCed

On another note, my friend, phatstyl had an electrical fire on his kk266 system(just a few days after he installed his gf3). His floppy caught on fire and killd the floppy, the cable, and the 400watt psu..

Glad I am getting an ak31 in the next couple weeks:)

Same problem here. It works fine with a Radeon LE but with my new ti200 or an 8500, I have to hold the reset buttom for a few seconds after booting up. THis is with a generic 300W PS and a AMD approved 340W PS

The KK266 seems to have prob feeding power to the AGP for some high-end (power hungry) VGA card. Some ppl do the mod on the AGP by installing an additional wire from the PSU to the AGP port (to boost more power).

The KK266+ does not have this problem. They did increase the robustness of the power delivery system for the CPU and probably even the AGP slot. (3 phase power)

I have a 1.2 Ghz Athlon, 2 7200 RPM HDs, 3 CD drives and a GeForce 3 Ti 200 o/c slightly to 200/430. No stability problems in Win 2K w/ a 300W Antec PSU.

Conclusion...the KK266+ owners shouldn't have to worry about this problem.

This mod as been pretty sucessful for the people that have tried. I can't remember where I saw I guide for doing it.

Unfortunately, your problem isn't just with KT133A, but any mainboard based on it. KT133A is notorious for cold-boot troubles, particularly with GeForce-series cards. For some reason, enough juice just isn't delivered. In fact, VIA supposedly "fixed" the issue in later revisions of the KT133A north bridge, but I don't trust them a bit. You could try raising the I/O to 3.6ish, but there's no guarantees. Chalk up another victim to a buggy VIA chipset.

Best bet is to quit messing around with it and get something that works :D

On my system using an old Abit BX6R2, my VisioNTek GF3ti200 works, but I tend to occasionally get a little of screen waver. It even works way overclocked (240/525), but the waver gets worse. I also noticed the waver is affected by running Rain.

Is it possible that my motherboard isn't providing enough power to the card? Or my power supply? (it's a 230W enlight, yes I know, tiny, but it's always been good to me...). I know the mobo only does AGP2X.

Anyway, next week I'm upgrading to an Epox 8KHA+ and an Enermax 350W silencer.. so hopefully that'll fix the problem...

Oh, so just because a company finds no other recent chipsets pleaseing(except for the new xp333 Ali one) you think they aren't trust worthy?

I have a kk266r, and it is a helluva board, as well as all the stuff they made before the kk stuff..

Pay is running a Maxtor 17.5 GB @ 5400 RPMS for christ's sake. I wouldn't trust his hardware judgement. The kk266 kicks ass, as well as every other Iwill board I've played with so far.

KK266 was a great board. It was good to me. The trouble I had was with VIA, as usual :D

Still a hell of an overclockers' board.
