My friend just had a cable connection put in. We set it up and am using a router. The computer with the KK266 has the nic installed properly and it is not sharing an IRQ but I can't access the internet. It has an IP address and can be renewed. Even both lights on the router work fine. It is a Siemens ss1020. The diagnostic program says to call the dealer when checking. Possible problems? Any suggestions would be great.

Hmmm....

Did you check the Network settings? TCP/IP? Try blowing them all away and re-installing the network settings.

Which OS are you using?

IE has a "set up internet access" section. Under tools->Internet options->Connections.

Could be the nic is fubar'd. Try another nic after releasing the IP first.

I had the exact same problem with my KK266 and a Netgear card. If I went into the Device Manager and set the Netgear card down to 10Mbit, it worked fine. When I switched to a Linksys card the problems went away.

I don't know that it was the KK266, but that board had more problems like that than I have ever had with any other board. Bad IDE, bad USB, bad network, etc.

All the network settings are fine, I am using win 98se. I am going to try and install the network card in the other computer and see if it works. IE is set up fine also. I didn't know if it was a kk266 problem or not.

Yeah, I had problems with installing the modem when they first went dial up. Other computers I usually install a network card in ~5 min. I don't remember seeing that I could set the speed of the network card but I will check again. I also have the nic utility which has the option to set the speed. What is the difference between 10M and 10M full duplex?
