I picked this up yesterday after seeing the ad. My first time to go to Fry's on a weekday. Wasn't really crowded at all :). I exchanged the MSI K7T Turbo-R and 1gig 100fsb athlon that I got last week for $239. They gave me a full refund and I got $32 back :). Kinda surprising hearing everybody complain about Fry's service then getting a refund about 5 min. after I walked into the store. Also, I got an AXIA and I'm willing to bet most of their chips are AXIA's. I got an AXIA w/ 100fsb with the MSI combo too.

Actually, the saving grace of shopping at Fry's seems to be their no questions asked return policy.

The flip side of that is, that you gotta be careful taking mchdse of the shelves, as half of it has been returned and restocked.

Ever try to get service on the sales floor? It just doesn't happen.

<< does anybody know if there is a fry's in the Chicagoland area? >>

There are no Fry's in, around, or near Chicago. Sucks, doesn't it?

Actually Frys is supposed to open a store in Downers Grove right near a compusa off of butterfield road where the old Car mega store was. I dont know when its supposed to open though. The chicago area really needs some good stores.

The item# for the combo was 3008159. The individual #'s were 291205 for the kk266 and 2980075 for the cpu. This is probably just local though, but it probably wouldn't hurt to try and get some money back.

JRKIO, what was the stepping on the 1 GHZ Athlon? I live in Katy, and it looks like it's time to buy!

I really dont rememebr the stepping. To find it out I would have to open up my comp, take off the HSF, swab the thermal paste off the cpu, then put it all back together again. Besides I just did that :p. Oh well. I'm running the T-bird at 150 fsb right now w/o problems, and my generic RAM is most likely holding me back. I didn't mark up the L1 bridges good enough and the clock multiplier won't be adjusted right now, even though I could change it a couple days ago when I installed it. I'll probably take it out tommorow when I get the Black Label fan for my Thermoengine so I can reclose the bridges and overclock the bizatch good.

Er... In Sandra it says the stepping is 4/2 :)

I remember in the old post that some got AXIA which is the stepping I got and some got different stepping. Depending on your luck.

Can you please let us know if the item number for the combo you purchased a while back for $300 matches the one that was listed?

Also please let us know if you were able to pricematch the $199 price.

Thank a lot

As an added note... this mobo has been rated very well by nearly all review sites, receiving nearly a 90% rating or better. All around the kk266 is a great motherboard at a great price.

Hope you guys can leave some more feedback.

Ramz.... where is this?
Its funny how you say it, make it seem like all Fry's is out of them. :)

Please let us know where you found they were out.

In Houston, like it says in the title...I went by yesterday morning, and all of their Iwill KK266 and KK266R where out of stock,...they offered to replace it with the Soyo MOBO, which I did not want, so I just decided to do the waiting game again.

Tough luck for the Houston crowd, looks like its still in stock elsewhere...
And the new thread someone posted with this same iWill kk266 board and a 1.2 ghz cpu for $219 has also been posted. Just search "frys".

Thanks for clearing it up ramz
