Pretty cool little combo (for a pre-release board).
When I do get a production board and have had a chance to look at a few other dual Tualatin boards, I have a feeling I will be coming back to this preview to add an Editor's Choice Award. The only reason I won't now is that it is hard to award one to a pre-release board, and that I haven't been able to evaluate other 2P Tualatin boards just yet. I would say if you can't wait for other boards to compete with this one, you certainly wouldn?t be disappointed if you picked it up.
Now I know many of you have dual Athlon machines and may feel the need to flame me for my conclusion, but before you do, I only ask that you keep an open mind and try to see why I have concluded this preview the way I have. Both machines are VERY similar in terms of price, performance, stability, and features - so choosing either one is a great call. Personally, I just like one a little better than the other.
I am not going to give this board a score yet since it is a pre-release product. I will say that if Iwill does fix the LAN issue the board will get between 92-95%. That's 3% off for the floppy placement, and a couple percent off for lack of VMEM. Depending on how other 2P Tualatin boards look, this board MAY get an award in the future too. It is that good.
