Tyan K8W = AMD 8111 & AMD 8151 chips, don't think they have any AGP/PCI lock support.

New IWill boards = nForce3 250 - working AGP lock for better overclocking.

The only thing that could make that board even sweeter is dual slots for PCI-E video cards

Ah damn I thought that was a PCI-E board, it looks like it's a PCI-X + AGP board though. My dreams are shattered

They have both. The DK8N is the AGP version. DK8E is PCI-Express version.

meh, i wouldn't even O/C a setup like that... that is insane fast at stock speeds
but either way i at least agree that's a good reason to want the NF3 250 instead...
Tyan boards are solid though, can't deny that!

Iwill (IMHO) is the "Lexus" of high end workstation mobos.

But you pay a premium for the luxury... they will cost around $500.

I found this thread thru a Google search. CraigRT knows this already from another thread; I was looking (very seriously!) at the Tyan K8W. Over in the 2CPU.COM forums there is a thread a mile long about the K8W and it's issues with ATI9800xx cards.

Seems the AMD 1851 AGP Tunneling Chip on it doesn't play well with these video cards. Basically, you're lucky if it boots. NVidia cards have no probs.

This is the reason why I didn't get that board and won't unless they fix the prob.

OTOH, I can't wait to see how the DK8N does! I may have my dually Opteron yet. The board looks like freakin' GOD, man. Just like the K8W. If it works w/ATI cards, I'm in.

Allegedly, the DK8N has FSB adjustments, so you can overclock. And like other excellent NVidia chipsets, has a AGP/PCI lock. Now, whether it has CPU voltage adjustments is another story, but I'd imagine it would. BUT, w/this type of mobo...I don't see why you would overclock and risk stability.

This, coming from King Overclock himself. If I could overclock my floppy drive, I'd do it. :evil: But with the moolah a dual-Opteron will cost, I wouldn't risk stability at all.

Besides, 2 x 2.0GHz Opterons, with 2GB PC3200 running 128-bit = :Q Zooooooooooooooom!

But you can always get a pair of cheaper 242's instead of 246's....

Hold on... if it's based on NF3, then the NVSU is gonna work, I suppose?

I was even looking at the 244's; a lot cheaper than the 246's.

The problem is that the 246 and UP has official 200MHz FSB support. 244 and lower is a crapshoot.

Imagine: 2 x Opteron 246, 2GB PC3200 running 128-bit memory bus. *drool*

I cannot WAIT for a review of this board. If it passes the ATI card test, I'm SO in.

This thread over in the 2CPU Forums is still buzzing.

All these guys seem to be in Australia and England. They get stuff first b/c they are closer to the Orient where all this goodness is born.

Hopefully, we get some DK8Ns in the states soon! I want to see reviews/benchies/comparos. I especially want to know if the AGP has any probs with ANY modern videocards.

The NF3250GB rocks w/single CPU; let's see how it does w/dual.
