They do not have any pressure from rival companies and their products. As usual, without pressure from outside Intel is coasting and doing the bare minimum to get by.

IMO there should not be more than 6-9 month delay between small socket and its large socket counterpart. That should be enough time to mature the manufacturing process for larger chips.
 
If intel wanted to wait until there was sufficient competition, then they would be able to wait much longer than Q3 2013 before anything would be able to compete with a 6 core sandy. I'm not hating on AMD, but its just true.

Very true AMD doesn't have anything that can match even 6 core gulftown yet alone SB-E.

As other's have posted i'm more curious on seeing the competition between 4core haswell and 6 core Ivy-E

That's terrible. Looks like I'll be saving money. Waiting for Haswell-E. Probably 2014 at this rate..

More likely 2015 unless AMD can pull a rabbit out of the hat.
