They have email contests with regularity (you must be a subscriber to win)

6 months ago, I won a pair of tickets to Rose Parade - $220/pair

today, I won VIP tickets to Calabasas Food & Wine Festival - $600/pair

I gotta enter more local contests holy shit....

Nice! Do you end up selling those tickets?

Nope, actually going to these events.

Won't be able to make the food event cuz of my India trip, but they allowed my fiance to claim the tickets which was awesome.

Woah, it's $110/person to go to the rose parade? I always thought you could just walk up to it and watch. I had no idea there was such a high admission cost.

I had no idea either until I won the tickets - that's why I went, because I would NEVER pay my own money for them.

The cheaper seats are like $90.

These are for RESERVED SEATS (aka bleachers). You can camp and watch with the masses for free, you just gotta spend 24 hours of your time and sleep on the street for a night.

When I went some 25 years ago, it was just walk up and watch. Though I was only like 5 or 6 I think, so I don't know if my parents got tickets or not.

Most contests have limits on how often you can win. If their legal department is up to snuff, you wouldn't be eligible for most of those (throttles corruption).
