I've turned into the people I "hate".

Should I feel this sort of shame?

Part of me feels bad that I never did it with my 3.5 y.o. daughter, too - but here's a pic of my son... currently set to my desktop.

why do you hate people that do this?
the people on this forum hate the weirdest things and worry too much about what other people do.

Ok, I guess hate's way too strong a word. It's hate, like I hate Black Cherry Kool-Aid. It's just not right, and I don't understand how anyone could possibly like it. It's that sort of 'hate'.

Then again, there's no accounting for taste, I suppose.

There's also the possibility that my subconscious wanted to share the pic of my son, and the only way it would get my conscious mind to do the work of posting would be to wrap it up in a seemingly off-topic post of pathetic self-loathing.

Then again, maybe I shouldn't overanalyze.

Edit: I've edited my post's title to help people understand that it's "hate", like with air-finger-quotes, not hate, like with loathing.

Why would you hate that people have pictures of their loved ones as desktops? Sometimes it looks kinda tacky when they take a small picture and stretch it to some massive size.

It's like the most simple and effective thing that anyone (who isn't really familiar with computers) can do to make it more personal for them.

Good looking kid and picture :D

I can't personally welcome you the the horde, but hurray, you're one of them now. Don't feel bad about it, if anything, feel bad if you have no personal photos up. My job involves/involved going to everyones workstation and having been to about 1500 or so across a city, only times I felt "weird" at a desk was when the person had no family/friend photos. It's a personal choice, but if you live there 40 hours a week, it just makes more sense to make it feel more like home.

He's become one of "those" people.

And I'm "hating" it.

True - I've got a few actual photos up - it's just the desktops that bother me. I've never been able to figure out why. And I still can't :D

I don't have anything personal on my desk, including pictures of the wife or 4 kids. That way when I decide to leave (or get fired) I don't have to pack shit up. I just walk out and leave.
