I was watching some family guy and pouring a pint from this mini keg i have and it wasent pouring fast enough so i pulled harder on the lever and the beer came out too fast, overshot the glass and landed on my Microsoft Intellimouse 1.0

It seemed fine after being shaken about but now 12 hours later the buttons are very vey sticky and dont move much. Can i wash it? Like maybe leave it in the sink with water for an hour or something then leave it hanging above a radiator? If that wont work then what can i do?

These mice are really good, i like them a lot and i don't wanna have to adapt to the newer crappier IMO intellimouse 3.0. I dont like gamer mice and there dosent seem to be another intellimouse 1.0 on ebay, shame because i really like the symmetrical design of it and all 5 buttons are large and unmissable, plus it dosent do that thing where the side buttons are both on the same side i dont like that at all. If i cant fix it im screwed.... :(

Should have rinsed with cool distilled water right away. Once dried on, will take a disassembly and more work to get it out. Start with a soak with agitation in warm (not hot) distilled water (has been less than $1. a gallon at Walmart but may be higher now due to energy costs) - may have to do a couple of passes of fresh warm distilled to get it all out now. Drain thoroughly and rinse with rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl - will help remove all traces of water).

is that regular tap water? If so, not sure how well this will turn out, I have heard if you let them dry well regular water doesn't do anything bad to electronics but I'd be worried tossing a mouse in a sink full of tap water.

NYC water is pretty good - put it in Arizona water and you'll have dried calcium deposits all over. :)

Well here in Scotland the waters not bad, could be worse. Umm, the mouse never worked at all when i plugged it into my PC, "USB device has malfunctioned or was not recognised" However it worked for about 1 minute plugged into my laptop, then it stopped working.

I think it needs more time on the radiator or something.

The reason I specified distilled water is that it is called "hungry water" as it will cause a lot more stuff to dissolve and go into solution into it than any tap water. Also it has no metallics in it while all tap water does have iron and/or copper in it from the pipes as well as sodium and calcium as metallic ions. IOW, tap water isn't much better than the beer that was already in there...

Its working 100% now, i left it sitting on the radiator overnight and it now works all the time. Fantastic :D Ive moved the keg away from the mouse, and it should be safe from further spills.

I think the more important question of this whole matter was missed... what kind of beer?
