Discussion I've read about issues with Windows 11 and gaming performance....

I built a new system in Jan 2021 to which I added a GTX 1080 that I bought over the summer on the FS/Trade forum. I've been playing around with the 1080 trying to see its OC ability. Not having much luck, I watched one of Jays videos on how to use EVGA Precision X to OC a Pascal GPU. In the process I ran some benchmarks with Heaven per the video.

A few days ago I upgraded to Windows 11. I was curious to see how much performance the new OS cost me, based on stuff I'd read. Well, much to my surprise I saw a big improvement. Granted this is only in one program. Maybe you have had the similar results. Win 10 vs 11.jpg

I'm wondering if having EVGA Precision X running on the Win 10 test slowed it down?

So far I like Windows 11.

I tried a newer benchmark and the results were more inline with what I was expecting. The OS still still shows as Win 10 on both, but the build number of 22000 is Win 11.Superposition_Benchmark_v1.1_16436_1629050822.png

Benchmark Steve just did his test suite and methodology comparing 10 and 11. TL;DW = Not much to choose between, unless you have VBS turned on in 11. Which can significantly hinder performance.

I missed that one yesterday. I like our Ausie friends, but Steve talks so fast that my Vietnam damaged ears have a difficult time following his videos. Since he does such a thorough job in his testing, I try to keep up with his channel.

My oldest bro was Air Force security there, in 70-71 I think? Much respect for what you guys went through. :beercheers:

If you have trouble with the audio, you can try turning on CC and change the playback speed to fit a comfortable reading pace for you.

I was Army and in Nam 71-72, at that time they were standing down and sending guys home. I was very fortunate to have ended up in Finance. I was a traveling Finance Office and flew in helicopters every day to get to the troops in the base camps.

LOL...I use both of those tricks: CC & 75% playback speed.

I just installed Win 11 on my Ryzen 5600X, FPS wise it's very similar but loading speed wise, it's slower- for example I can load into a zone in WoW in under 10 seconds in Win 10 but it takes almost 20 seconds on the same character/zone in Win 11 and that's after the newest AMD chipset and Win 11 AMD fix updates (22000.258).

Earlier this month I installed Win 11 on my i7 7700 with disabling TPM check and it seems to run similar to win 10 on that PC.
